The House of No Waste Competition - konkurs dla młodych architektów i inżynierów

The House of No Waste Competition is an international ideas competition and will be carried out as an open call.

The HØW Competition calls upon aspiring young architects, landscape architects, building and structural engineers, planners, builders, material and environmental scientists, product designers, and built environment professionals to engage in a global competition that tackles pressing issues of the circular economy, Resource Nexus, and waste management in the built environment.

The competition is restricted to the Next Generation – Project authors must be young professionals or students with a degree in, or currently enrolled in, one of the above fields. Authors must be no older than 40 years at the opening of the competition (date of birth must be later than 31 August 1984).

An authorized Project Contact must be nominated to act as the sole point of contact regarding the submission.

Competition Task

Participants are asked to submit a conceptual design proposal for an innovative building or infrastructure project – or a key component thereof – that should either be publicly funded, serve a public benefit and/or have a public function. Submissions can take the form of a building concept, an urban planning strategy, a building or material system, a construction technology or process, or a product relating to the built environment – serving public use; however, these examples are not exhaustive, and other relevant formats relating to the built environment are welcome.

The designs should embody the principles of resource circularity and minimal waste across all phases of the building lifecycle and align with the HØW Criteria – including concepts for reuse and repurpose of buildings and places. The relevance of the projects in relation to the HØW Criteria define the admissibility. Projects at an advanced planning stage before the start of execution work are eligible and projects from all areas of construction can be submitted.
