Opportunity to design and build your own spaghetti bridge.

AJKTM 2019 creates an opportunity for students from all over the world to show their inventiveness and precision. Students can compare each other’s skills in a competitive yet friendly atmosphere.
“How Strong Is The Bridge ?!” is an international competition in the construction of bridges from spaghetti, attracting a large number of participants and visitors every year. The competition will be held for the 10th consecutive year, attended by teams of high school students and students of construction, architecture and other technical professions. The competition among the competitors and the general public is perfectly acceptable since it combines and combines the best students from Slovenia and Europe in a competitive spirit.

The visibility of the competition is also increasing abroad, as demonstrated by the increasing participation of teams from foreign universities from year to year. The teams come from Austria, Germany, Italy, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czech Republic, Poland, Latvia, Romania, Turkey and Egypt. The competition lasts for three days, from 6 to 8 May 2019 at the premises of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Architecture in Maribor.

DESCRIPTION

In 3 days teams should design and build optimal spaghetti bridge, which can bair greatest load possible.

How strong is the bridge contest

MATERIALS FOR THE CONTEST

Primary material is Barilla n.7 spaghetti
Hot glue for joints
Knifes, rubber bands and other hand tools
It is allowed to use computer software for structural analasys and defining bridge construction
Electric tools are not allowed

BASIC RULES

Teams must build their bridges in accordance with the rules. After registriation teams will receive exact schedule of the contest. With this instructions teams should make their design for the bridge before the contest itself. Team must consist of 3 participants.

The bridge with maximum bearing capacity will win.

Snacks and beverages during competition

3 days “Bad & Breakfast” accomodation, lunches, dinners and various banquets

Bearing capacity:

1st place – 1000 EUR
2nd place – 600 EUR
3rd place – 300 EUR

Design:

1st place – 300 EUR

Participation fee: 200 EUR per team
